At least three children were killed and seven others injured after debris from a Ukrainian drone, targeting the warehouse of an e-commerce company Ozon, fell on a private children’s centre in Russia's southern city of Krasnodar, Russian authorities said on Monday.
Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on Russian social media platform Max that initially the drone was shot down by air defences during a large-scale attack overnight.
Russian Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova confirmed the death toll.
"A terrible tragedy in Krasnodar Krai. Last night, as a result of a massive Ukrainian attack, according to preliminary information, three teenagers — aged 13, 15, and 16 — were killed," she said in a statement on Max.
The overnight attacks also targeted several Ozon logistics facilities across southern Russia.
Ozon said its facilities in Adygeysk in the Adygea region, Makhachkala in Dagestan and Nevinnomyssk in the Stavropol region came under drone attack.
Employees were evacuated from the Adygeysk and Nevinnomyssk facilities because of the threat of further attacks.
Ozon also confirmed that its logistics center in Krasnodar was attacked. The company had earlier said a fire broke out at the facility.
A separate Ozon logistics centre in the Takhtamukaysky district of Adygea also caught fire following a drone attack, according to Russian authorities.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defence Ministry said it carried out overnight strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure and vessels used to deliver supplies to the Ukrainian military.
The Russian Defence Ministry said strikes hit the port of Pivdennyi in Ukraine’s Odesa region, including a tanker carrying fuel intended for Ukrainian forces, five fuel storage tanks, 10 storage facilities containing military-related equipment and port infrastructure used to unload and store military cargo.
Russia also said it had struck the Adzhalyk-330 substation, about 28 kilometers (17.3 miles) northwest of Odesa, which it said sends supplies to Pivdennyi Port.
The claims regarding the targets and damage at the Ukrainian port could not be independently verified.
