Türkiye expressed deep sorrow on Sunday over devastating earthquakes in Indonesia that killed at least 47 people and caused widespread destruction.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry offered condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in earthquakes in North Sumatra and Flores.

Ankara also expressed solidarity with the Indonesian people and wished a swift recovery to those injured in the disasters.

“We offer our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and to the people of Indonesia and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry statement read.

The earthquakes struck several areas across the archipelago, leaving communities facing widespread damage and urgent relief efforts.

Disaster response teams are assessing the extent of the destruction as affected communities begin the difficult process of recovery.

Search and rescue operations continued on Sunday to find survivors, with fuel and LPG supplies across Flores Island restored.

Nearly 6,000 people were taking refuge in Sikka, Manggara, Nagekeo, Bima, and Selayar areas.

The quake damaged 914 houses, 93 educational facilities, 36 health facilities, and 38 government offices.
