Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has warned the United States that the Strait of Hormuz will open only under "Iranian arrangements," not through US threats, following a new wave of American strikes on Iran.
"The US has yet to learn that bullying and breaking promises no longer come without cost," Qalibaf wrote on X.
"Let me be clear: If you strike, you will be struck," he said.
Qalibaf also warned Washington against attempting to pressure Tehran over the Strait of Hormuz.
"The Strait of Hormuz will open only under Iranian arrangements, not American threats," he said, adding: "Do not flail around pointlessly, or you will sink deeper."
US targets southern sectors
The remarks came after Iranian media reported a new wave of US strikes late Wednesday targeting several locations in southern and southeastern Iran.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) later said American forces had launched additional strikes aimed at further degrading Iran's ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Iran's Revolutionary Guards warned that any repeat of US attacks would trigger a broader response.
The Guards said their retaliation would extend to other US bases across the region if Washington launched further strikes.
