Russian air strikes killed three, including a child, and injured another seven people in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev and the surrounding region early on Wednesday, officials said.
The attack has killed two and injured four in the capital, Kiev City Military Administration said on Telegram, and Mayor Vitali Klitschko said fires broke out, affecting private houses along with a store and a warehouse.
Tymur Tkachenko, Kiev regional governor, writing on Telegram, said that a Russian missile and a drone strike killed a child and injured three more people in the area, also damaging infrastructure facilities, houses, warehouses and cars.
Ukraine's neighbours, European Union and NATO members Romania and Poland, have both scrambled military jets to protect their airspaces amid Russian attacks on Ukraine, according to defence ministry and armed forces statements on X.
Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian Samara region, an oil producing and refining hub some 1,100 km by road southeast from Moscow, has damaged private houses, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said on social media platform VK.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and another injured in drone attacks in Russia's Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine, governor Yegor Kovalchuk said on Wednesday in Telegram messaging app.
Russia says overnight strike hit Kiev communications centre, energy facilities
Meanwhile, Russia's defence ministry said on Wednesday that Russian forces launched a massive overnight strike, hitting a communications centre in Ukraine's capital, energy facilities in the Kiev region that support military production, and port infrastructure in Izmail.

In Kiev, Russia said it struck the De Novo data centre, which it described as a major internet traffic exchange hub supporting the Ukrainian armed forces.
In the Kiev region, Russia said it hit the Kyivska power substation near Nalyvaikivka, the Kiev hydroelectric power plant in Vyshhorod, the Trypilska thermal power plant and an energy storage facility in Horenychi.
Moscow said the facilities supplied electricity to Ukraine's military-industrial sector and military sites in and around Kiev.
In the Odessa region, Russia said it struck an industrial complex at the port of Izmail used to receive, store and transport military cargo and fuel for the Ukrainian military.
Russia also said it hit a dry cargo vessel in the northwestern Black Sea that was allegedly carrying military equipment and dual-use goods to the port of Odessa.
Poland temporarily closes Rzeszow, Lublin airports
Poland's Air Traffic Authority (PANSA) said on Wednesday that airports in Rzeszow and Lublin temporarily suspended air operations due to military aviation activity during Russian strikes on Ukraine.
"Airports in Lublin and Rzeszow have resumed flight operations," the agency said in an X post.
Military aviation was operating in Polish airspace due to Russian strikes on Ukraine using "airborne assault means", the Polish army said in a statement earlier.
The army also said it had readied its ground-based air defence systems and radar reconnaissance as a defensive measure aimed at securing its airspace.
