Türkiye’s First Lady Emine Erdogan has called for lasting cooperation on family and women’s issues across the Turkic world, highlighting women’s longstanding influence in Turkic societies.
Women holding strong, influential positions in society is rooted in the heritage of Turkic civilisations, Erdogan said on Friday at the first meeting of the High Honorary Council of the Council on Family and Women in Ankara.
“What we need to do is transform this experience into a perspective unique to the Turkic world that is in harmony with the cultural sensitivities, priorities, and social realities of our societies,” she said.
Hosted by Erdogan, the meeting brought together spouses of leaders attending the 13th summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Turkish Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas and senior representatives from member countries.
The gathering aimed to turn a shared commitment to family and women’s issues into lasting cooperation.

Efforts to empower families and women
“We aim to make our council a lasting platform for cooperation. Today, together with you, we have taken the first steps toward establishing our council here in Ankara,” Erdogan said.
She expressed hope that the council’s first official meeting would take place during the 14th OTS summit in Uzbekistan next year, hosted by Uzbek first lady Ziroat Mirziyoyeva.
In a subsequent post on NSosyal, Erdogan said the council would bring together efforts to empower families and women.
“We believe that keeping families, the unseen stronghold of our societies, strong is possible by supporting women in every sphere of life,” she said.
She stressed the importance of drawing on member countries’ experience and developing shared solutions, expressing hope that the council would deepen cooperation and strengthen ties across the Turkic world.
