Türkiye has unveiled a commemorative pin marking the 10th anniversary of the defeated July 15 2016 coup attempt, Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran said on Friday.
Designed under the coordination of the Communications Directorate, the pin was inspired by the “sevgi cicegi” (love flower), an endemic plant native to Ankara’s Golbasi district.
It symbolises the Turkish people’s resistance to the coup attempt, their determination to defend democracy, and the renewed spirit of national unity, Duran said on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.
The pin was created to honour the memory of the 253 people martyred during the coup attempt and to pass the spirit of July 15 on to future generations, he added.
It is being presented to the public during commemorative events held under the theme The Will Is Ours, The Victory Is Ours.
