Formula 1 has announced plans to open its 2027 season in Bahrain despite uncertainty over this year’s remaining races in the Middle East.
The calendar released on Wednesday begins with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 14 and also includes races in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
This year’s races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were called off because of the US-Israeli war on Iran. An additional race in Malaysia next month will carry Bahrain Grand Prix branding.
The Qatar Grand Prix on November 29 and the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 6 remain on this year’s calendar, although F1 has considered moving the races to Europe if they cannot go ahead.
All four Middle Eastern hosts have long-term contracts with F1. Bahrain also hosts pre-season testing in February.
