French police have arrested 416 people during violent clashes that erupted when thousands poured onto the streets during Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League final victory, the country's interior minister said.

Just over 280 of the arrests took place in Paris, Minister of Interior Laurent Nunez announced, calling the unrest in which seven police officers were wounded "absolutely unacceptable".

PSG retain Champions League title

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on Saturday retained the UEFA Champions League title after defeating Arsenal 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the final at Puskas Arena.

Arsenal took an early lead through Kai Havertz in the sixth minute, but PSG equalised in the second half with Ousmane Dembele converting a penalty in the 65th minute.
