Israeli forces have raided the village of Al-Mughayyir in the central occupied West Bank and detained several young Palestinians, while illegal Israeli settlers stole water tanks in the northern Jordan Valley, even after the US envoy to Israel referred to such illegal settlers as "terrorists".
The sources told Anadolu that Israeli forces entered Al-Mughayyir to protect illegal Israeli settlers on Saturday, who had gathered near Palestinian homes west of the village.
The forces detained several young men in their vehicle and took them to the Shaab al-Louz area west of Al-Mughayyir, where they forced them to reopen a secondary road that had been blocked, the sources said.
This came even as the United States ambassador to Israel condemned settler violence in the occupied West Bank, calling the behaviour an “act of terror" as he visited with Palestinian American residents shaken by months of attacks.
Ambassador Mike Huckabee referred to illegal settlers as "terrorists".
“If there are squatters that come in and put up their own flags and take possession of something that does not belong to them, if they burn a car, if they torch a mosque, if they go into someone’s home and vandalise it, or if they paint graffiti on the walls, that’s a criminal act. But it extends beyond a criminal act. It’s an act of terror,” Huckabee said during his visit to the village of Turmus Ayya, which has reported frequent attacks by settlers over the past year.
Israeli forces also raided the village of Arura northwest of Ramallah, as well as the villages of Abwein, Jiljilya and Ajjul north of the city. No arrests were reported.
In a separate incident, illegal Israeli settlers stole iron and plastic tanks and barrels used by Palestinians to store water for their livestock in the northern Jordan Valley on Saturday evening, according to local sources.
Around 750,000 illegal Israeli settlers live in 194 illegal settlements and 400 outposts across the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem.
They carry out almost daily attacks aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians from their land.
Since Israel launched its genocide in Gaza on October 8, 2023, the occupied West Bank has witnessed daily raids by Israeli forces and attacks by illegal Israeli settlers.
