Türkiye and 11 other countries have strongly condemned this week's Israeli air strikes targeting the Abu al-Duhur military airbase in northwestern Syria, calling the attacks an "extreme escalation" and a violation of the country's sovereignty.
In a joint statement on Friday, the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Algeria, Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mauritania, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Somalia said the strikes constituted "a flagrant violation of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political unity" of Syria.
The ministers expressed deep concern over the continued targeting and degradation of Syrian territory and infrastructure, warning that such actions risk undermining efforts to restore security, rebuild national institutions and address the humanitarian consequences of years of conflict.
They also warned that continued Israeli violations of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity risk further escalating tensions, undermining regional peace and stability and eroding respect for international law and the principles of the UN Charter.
The ministers called on the international community to take a "firm, clear and principled position" against continued attacks on Syria and to take concrete steps in line with international law and the UN Charter to end the violations.
They urged full respect for the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from areas they have occupied, saying such steps are necessary to prevent further escalation and protect regional peace and stability.
The ministers reaffirmed the need to respect Syria's sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and political unity and rejected any attempt to undermine them.
