The Israeli army carried out a new incursion into Syrian territory, in another violation of the country’s sovereignty, entering the countryside of Syria’s southern Daraa province with nine military vehicles on Friday, local media reported.

The vehicles entered the Wadi al-Raqad area, Syria’s Al-Ikhbariya television reported, without providing further details about their movements.

Wadi al-Raqad, located in the Yarmouk Basin in the Daraa countryside, has seen frequent incursions by Israeli occupation forces and military movements in recent months.

The activity is part of a wider pattern across southern Syria since the fall of Bashar al Assad’s regime on December 8 2024, when Israel announced the collapse of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement and occupied the Syrian buffer zone and other areas.

Damascus has repeatedly demanded that Israel end its occupation and withdraw to the positions it held before December 8 2024, while reaffirming its commitment to the 1974 agreement.
