A Palestinian girl was wounded by Israeli gunfire early on Friday in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza according medical sources, despite an ongoing ceasefire in effect since October 2025.
Gaza’s medical services directorate in the north said its teams transferred a 10-year-old girl in critical condition to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City after gunfire targeted residents and displaced people in the Beit Lahia area.
The girl was shot in the head while inside Khalifa School, which shelters displaced people, witnesses said.
Israeli military vehicles stationed north and east of Beit Lahia have been firing heavily since Thursday evening, alongside artillery shelling in the area, they added.
Residents and displaced people near areas under Israeli military control across Gaza face repeated gunfire from vehicles and snipers, resulting in near-daily casualties.
As Israel continues to control more than 50 percent of the enclave, hundreds of thousands of displaced people are living in tents, schools, and open areas after their homes were destroyed, amid dire humanitarian conditions.
Israel’s ceasefire violations have killed 972 Palestinians and wounded 2,235 others since October 2025, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The ceasefire was reached after two years of a genocidal war launched by Israel in October 2023, causing widespread destruction affecting 90 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure.
