Palestinian factions, including Fatah and Hamas, will begin preparatory talks in Cairo on Wednesday ahead of a broader national dialogue aimed at building political consensus, a Fatah spokesperson told Anadolu.
Abdel Fattah Dawla said Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) would also participate in the meetings, which are expected to last up to two days.
Broader talks could resume on October 20, depending on the outcome of the preliminary discussions, he added.
Dawla said the meetings would focus on preparations for the wider dialogue and efforts to build consensus among Palestinian factions.
Fatah's delegation will include Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajoub and committee member Mohammad Shtayyeh, both of whom are expected to arrive in Cairo on Wednesday.
There was no immediate comment from the other factions.
On Saturday, Rajoub said Fatah had held two days of talks in Cairo with Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the PFLP as part of Egyptian efforts to secure Palestinian national consensus.
The meetings come after Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree on Saturday scheduling simultaneous presidential and legislative elections for September 11 2027, replacing a previously planned legislative vote in November 2026.
Fatah welcomed the decree, while Hamas called for comprehensive national dialogue to reach binding agreements on reorganising Palestinian political institutions.
