Netflix has pledged to invest around $200 million in Turkish films and television series between 2026 and 2028, as the streaming platform marks its 10th anniversary in the country.

Under the investment plan, new productions will be filmed in different cities across Türkiye, creating employment opportunities for professionals working in the creative industries, the company said in a statement.

Netflix has increasingly become a platform for Turkish productions seeking international audiences.

Among the platform's globally recognised Turkish titles are The Tailor, Shahmaran, Another Self, Who Were We Running From? and As the Crow Flies. The productions span different genres, from psychological thrillers and fantasy to family drama and romance.

More recent releases have also demonstrated the reach of Turkish productions. According to Netflix's second-half 2025 engagement report, Abandoned Man attracted 28 million global views, while Old Money recorded 17 million views during the same period.

An upcoming Netflix project event

Netflix has also announced initiatives to identify emerging talent and bring new stories to its platform, including a project pitch event scheduled for November 30.

At the event, screenwriters, directors and producers who have not previously worked on a Netflix Türkiye production will be able to present their projects directly to the company's content teams.

The company has organised more than 40 free training programmes in Türkiye over the past decade, covering areas including screenwriting, visual effects, directing and adaptation workshops.

Its Türkiye Talent Map programme, which has been running for two years, has also connected young people in different cities with professional training opportunities. The programme will expand to three additional cities in Anatolia in its next phase.

Strengthening Türkiye's global production industry

Ahmet Burak Daglioglu, president of Türkiye's Investment and Finance Office, said the country had become an important centre for the global film and television industry thanks to its production capacity, skilled workforce and growing international visibility.

Türkiye leads the world in the annual production of television series episodes and is home to the world's third-largest and Europe's largest film production facility, he said.

"Turkish series, which are exported to 190 countries and reach more than 1 billion viewers, generate over $1 billion in export revenue, demonstrating the global success of our industry," Daglioglu said.

He described Netflix's investment as an indication of confidence in Türkiye's creative industries and their international competitiveness.

Daglioglu also pointed to government incentives introduced under the Strong Hub for Investment programme, which reduced the tax rate on income earned from service exports to zero.

He said Netflix's investment announcement demonstrated the effectiveness of the policy in attracting international investment.

Netflix marks 10 years in Türkiye

Diego Avalos, Netflix's Vice President of Content for Spain, Portugal, Türkiye and the Middle East, said the company had filmed in more than 30 cities and brought over 90 local productions to audiences during its first decade in Türkiye.

Those productions have entered Netflix's Top 10 lists in more than 90 countries, reflecting the international appeal of Turkish creative talent, he said.

Avalos said the new investment would help bring previously untold stories from different parts of Anatolia to the screen while creating further employment opportunities.

"We are proud to be part of the industry and to share the productions we make together with audiences around the world, particularly our members in Türkiye," he said.

The company said its latest investment would build on this track record and support more stories from Türkiye's creative industries over the next three years.
