Türkiye has approved a defence industry cooperation agreement with Brazil, paving the way for deeper collaboration between the two countries’ defence institutions and companies.
A presidential decision approving the agreement and related diplomatic notes was published in Türkiye’s Official Gazette on Friday.
The agreement was signed on March 25 2022, and aims to strengthen the defence capabilities of both countries through cooperation in the development, production, procurement and maintenance of defence goods and services.
It also covers technical and logistical support linked to defence cooperation.
Deal opens door to joint projects
The agreement is expected to provide a legal framework for cooperation between public institutions and defence companies in Türkiye and Brazil.
Potential areas of collaboration include joint defence projects, co-production, technology transfers and reciprocal procurement.
The framework could also facilitate closer industrial ties between the two countries as their defence sectors pursue opportunities for cooperation.
Türkiye’s parliament approved the agreement on June 23 before it was submitted to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for final approval.
Brazil completed its own domestic approval process in 2025, publishing the agreement in its official gazette on September 10.
The presidential decision was signed on Thursday and published in Friday’s edition of Türkiye’s Official Gazette.
