Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has attended the opening session of a G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in the US.
On the sidelines of the two-day gathering in the Southern city of Atlanta on Friday, Fidan met with Indonesian Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi.
During the meeting with his Japanese counterpart, Fidan stressed the importance of further developing economic relations between Türkiye and Japan and expanding cooperation into new areas.
According to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources, Fidan highlighted the need to boost mutual investments and promote cooperation between Turkish and Japanese companies in third countries.
The two also discussed planned high-level visits between the countries in the coming days, as well as recent developments in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions.

Global challenges on the agenda
Hosted by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the G20 meeting brings together top diplomats from the world’s leading economies to discuss global economic challenges, geopolitical tensions, energy and food security, freedom of navigation and supply chain resilience.
The gathering comes amid the war in Ukraine and tensions involving Iran, which continue to fuel concerns over regional stability and the global economy.
It is the final ministerial-level meeting under the US G20 presidency before the leaders’ summit scheduled for December 14–15 in Miami, Florida.
