Three Houthi members have been killed and several others, including field commanders, wounded in Yemeni army drone strikes in the southwestern province of Taiz, according to the military.
A military source told state-run Saba TV that army drones targeted Houthi gatherings and vehicles on the Maqbanah front in western Taiz.
Government drones struck a Houthi crew in Jabal al-Zuhaib and a second position in the al-Zulool area of al-Urf in Maqbanah, causing casualties.
In western Marib province, Yemeni army artillery and drones pounded Houthi sites and vehicles after the group targeted residential districts with ballistic missiles.
Local authorities confirmed the city, which hosts over 2.2 million displaced people, was struck by four ballistic missiles and four drones.
The Yemeni armed forces media centre released video footage documenting artillery and drone operations against Houthi vehicles on the western front.
In Saada province, Fayad al-Naaman, assistant undersecretary at Yemen's Information Ministry, said on X that officer Hisham Mujahid al-Subeihi of the 6th Emergency Brigade was killed by Houthi shelling in the Maran axis.
Escalation across multiple fronts
Yemen has witnessed a relative lull since April 2022 in a war that began nearly 12 years ago between government forces and the Houthis, who have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and other provinces since September 2014.
Fighting has resumed in several provinces in recent weeks, however, including Marib, Al-Jawf, Al-Dhalea, and Taiz, as the country continues to face one of the world’s worst humanitarian and economic crises.
The Houthis announced a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia in July.
