Türkiye has “strongly” condemned Israeli air strikes on Syria’s Abu al-Duhur Military Airbase in Idlib province.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Turkish foreign ministry said that Israel continues to carry out attacks targeting Syria’s infrastructure and capabilities while undermining the country’s territorial integrity and unity.
It also urged the international community to adopt a “more resolute stance to put an end to Israel’s aggression against Syria, which is taking on new dimensions with each passing day, and to ensure accountability for these actions, which disregard international law.”
An Israeli aircraft carried out eight air strikes targeting the runway of Abu al-Duhur Military Airbase in the eastern countryside of Idlib in northern Syria early Tuesday, causing material damage to the airbase’s infrastructure, without causing casualties, according to Al-Ikhbariyya TV.
Syrian state media, quoting a military source, said that "Israeli occupation aircraft early this morning targeted the runway" of the base "with eight strikes", damaging infrastructure but without causing casualties.
The facility has been out of service since 2012 and is currently protected by Syrian Defence Ministry forces, a security source said.
