Donald Trump has again stressed that Iran must not acquire a nuclear weapon, reiterating a long-standing position of his administration.

US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington would "probably" launch new strikes against Iran after recent US attacks on Tehran, as he met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.

"We hit them very hard last night, very, very. Probably hit them hard again tonight. I'll give him a little warning. We're going to hit him hard tonight," Trump told reporters on Wednesday during his meeting with Zelenskyy.

The US president again stressed that Iran must not acquire a nuclear weapon, reiterating a long-standing position of his administration.

Trump also said a memorandum of understanding signed last month with Iran aimed at ending the conflict was no longer in effect.

"It's a very interesting question to me. I think it's over," he said when asked whether the framework agreement had collapsed.
