Pope Francis apologised for the 'scandal and betrayal' of Catholic priests' sexual exploitation of children around the world on August 26 in Dublin, Ireland. He had kept silent against the accusations of ignoring alleged clerical sexual abuses before he issued an open letter of apology on August 20, 2018.
