G7 foreign ministers call for 'humanitarian pauses' in Gaza
G7 leaders meeting in Tokyo issued a statement on Wednesday supporting Israel’s right to defend itself, but calling for humanitarian pauses in the fighting. British and US ministers rejected the idea of Israel retaining any long-term occupation of Gaza once the fighting ends. Our Europe correspondent Simon McGregor-Wood reports.
