Right-wing populist Javier Milei wins presidential election
On Tuesday, Argentina's stock market surged 20 percent at the open, reacting to the resounding election win by anti-establishment candidate Javier Milei. The 53-year-old libertarian defeated the country's former economy minister Sergio Massa in the run-off vote. The South American nation has one of the world's highest inflation rates, and Milei ran a campaign promising drastic reforms to the economy. He's described his plans as 'economic shock therapy'... including shutting the central bank, ditching the peso in favor of the US dollar, and slashing government spending. Craig Boswell reports.
