Shipping companies take detours to avoid Red Sea
Shipping companies have begun taking detours to avoid the Red Sea after vessels have come under attack by Houthi rebels off Yemen. More than 150 container ships have been rerouted around southern Africa to avoid the Suez Canal. This has disrupted global trade and pushed up oil and gas prices worldwide. Analysts also expect a spillover of other commodities as almost 12% of the world's trade transits through the Suez Canal. Emre Boz has this report.
