#shoplifting Britain is in the midst of a ‘shoplifting epidemic’ costing business owners billions of dollars. There’s a similar situation in other countries. On Nexus we talk to former Met Police detective Peter Bleksley, poverty campaigner Stefanie Curran and shop owner and shoplifting victim Benedict Selvaratnam and ask whether the crimewave is a result of the cost of living crisis, or just organised criminals taking advantage of weak policing.
