China and Jordan have said the ceasefire between the US and Iran should be maintained and that normal passage through the Strait of Hormuz should be restored, in a joint statement reported by China's Xinhua news agency.
China and Jordan said "a comprehensive solution capable of eliminating the root causes" of regional tensions should be reached through dialogue and negotiations.
The two also expressed "deep concern over Israel's dangerous escalatory actions in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem."
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Jordan's King Abdullah II bin al Hussein in Beijing on Monday.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang also met King Abdullah II in Beijing to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral relations in key economic sectors, the Jordanian Royal Court announced on X.
During the meeting, the Jordanian king highlighted China's role as a vital economic partner, affirming that Jordan has "much to offer" in bilateral cooperation and that substantial opportunities exist to expand mutual trade and investment.
King Abdullah II’s state visit, his ninth trip to China overall and his first since 2015, concludes Monday, following high-level engagements with Chinese leaders.
China serves as Jordan's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade volume reaching around $6.7 billion.
Separately, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi, who is accompanying the king on his visit.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen strategic ties ahead of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year, according to a statement by the Chinese foreign ministry.
Safadi reiterated Jordan’s firm adherence to the one-China principle and praised Beijing’s constructive diplomatic role in the region.
Turning to regional developments, Wang emphasised that the Palestinian issue remains central to Middle East stability and must not be marginalised.
He called for continued dialogue toward securing a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, while Safadi stressed the necessity of a two-state solution and welcomed China’s support for peace efforts.
