Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the State of Palestine have congratulated Spain's national football team after it won the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
"I wholeheartedly congratulate the Spanish National Team on winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and I extend my greetings and warm regards, on behalf of my country and my nation, to the friendly people of Spain," Erdogan said in a post on X.
The official State of Palestine account also congratulated Spain in a post on X, sharing the Palestinian, Spanish and heart emojis alongside an image celebrating the team's World Cup victory.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez hailed the victory on X, thanking the team for their effort.
Spain dethroned defending champions Argentina with a 1-0 extra-time victory on Sunday to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup at New York New Jersey Stadium in the United States.
A late goal by Ferran Torres secured Spain's second World Cup title, 16 years after Andres Iniesta scored the winner to deliver the country's first crown in 2010.
