At least 14 people have been killed in Saudi Arabia after a helicopter carrying them crashed, killing everyone on board, the Saudi Ministry of Energy said.
The helicopter, belonging to Saudi oil giant Aramco, crashed on Sunday in Ras Tanura on Saudi Arabia’s eastern coast, west of the Strait of Hormuz, state news agency SPA reported.
“Investigations are underway, with the participation of relevant authorities, to determine the causes of the helicopter crash,” SPA said, adding that the cause was unknown.
Aramco resumed crude oil loadings at its Ras Tanura terminal on Friday after they were halted for nearly four months.
Ras Tanura, on Saudi Arabia’s eastern Gulf coast, is one of the country’s main oil refining and export hubs.
Saudi Arabia, the world’s biggest oil exporter, has joined a rush to move cargoes as Middle East producers ramp up oil and gas output and exports ahead of an interim deal to halt the war between the United States and Iran.
