Pakistan on Tuesday test-launched the extended-range version of the Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile.

The domestically produced missile was equipped with advanced avionics and state-of-the-art navigational aids, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army's media wing.

The weapon system is capable of engaging targets at extended ranges with high precision and lethality, it added.

The test also "validated additional technical parameters of various sub-systems incorporated for improved accuracy and enhanced survivability."

Pakistan showcases expanding missile capabilities

The launch was witnessed by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir as well as senior military officers, scientists and engineers.

Pakistan has been expanding its domestically developed missile programme as part of efforts to modernise its armed forces and strengthen its defence capabilities, with the Fatah series forming part of its growing arsenal of precision-strike weapons.
