Yemeni military conducts 1,200-plus operations against Houthi militia targets
Yemeni soldiers stand guard amid ongoing clashes between Houthi militias and government forces in Yemen.

The Yemeni army has said that it carried out 1,208 military operations against Houthi militia positions, claiming to have "neutralised" around 370 commanders and militants.

"Our armed forces continued carrying out their combat missions as part of Operation Dawn of Yemen, conducting 1,208 strikes targeting gatherings, movements, reinforcements, fortifications, firing positions and vehicles belonging to the terrorist Houthi militia, using fighter jets, drones, field artillery and rocket launchers," the army said in a statement on Tuesday.

The military also said that its operations destroyed or disabled approximately 120 vehicles and pieces of Houthi military equipment across several battlefronts.

It did not specify the timeframe for the operations, and the Houthis had not commented on the statement.

Earlier Tuesday, the Yemeni army announced that it recaptured positions from the Houthis in Lahj province and repelled attacks by the group in Taiz province.

The developments came amid a cautious calm along front lines in Al-Jawf and Marib provinces in northern and central Yemen, with no significant developments reported in recent hours, according to Anadolu's monitoring.

There were also no new developments on the Bab al Mandab front on Tuesday following fierce clashes a day earlier.

Neither side had managed to make further advances or achieve a breakthrough.

Military campaign underway

Operation Dawn of Yemen has been underway since October 5. Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi said the military campaign aimed to restore state control over institutions held by the Houthis and recapture the capital, Sanaa.

Military escalation between government forces and the Houthis resumed in July, leaving thousands dead or wounded and displacing more than 250,000 people, according to UN reports.

Yemen has been at war since the Houthis seized Sanaa and other provinces in September 2014.

The takeover prompted a Saudi-led military coalition to intervene in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognised government.
