Hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza have celebrated the Spanish national team's crowning as the 2026 World Cup champions after their winning goal against Argentina secured the second title in the country's history.

Hundreds of people gathered in areas dominated by scenes of destruction, more than two years after the start of the genocidal war carried out by Israel in the enclave.

Palestinians launched slogans of welcome and celebration for the victory of the Spanish team.

Meanwhile, the Spanish crowds did not forget Palestine during their own festivities.

Celebrations erupt in Spain with crowds raising the Palestinian flag and chanting "Free Palestine" following their national team's World Cup victory.

The star of the Spanish national team, Lamine Yamal, raised the flag of Palestine during his team Barcelona's celebrations for winning the local league in the 2025–2026 season.

The step met with approval from Palestinians and drew criticism from Israelis toward the Spanish star.
