Pakistan and India have lodged tit-for-tat protests over their naval encounter in international waters the previous day.
Pakistan’s foreign ministry said Islamabad lodged a “strong protest” with India on Wednesday.
The charge d’affaires of the Indian High Commission was summoned, and Pakistan conveyed a strong protest over a “highly provocative and unacceptable action by a vessel of the Indian Navy in Pakistan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ),” said the ministry.
It added that the charge d'affaires was asked to convey to New Delhi that Pakistan strongly rejects this “belligerent Indian action".
India, for its part, summoned Pakistan's charge d'affaires in New Delhi, and a “strong protest was lodged with him over the unacceptable and unprofessional conduct of Pakistani naval units at sea that led to a collision with a unit of the Indian Navy,” the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in the statement.
The two nations share the waters of the Arabian Sea.
New Delhi said the incident took place in international waters and “did not cause any major damage,” but the conduct of the “Pakistani naval ship was in direct contravention of Article 10 of the agreement between India and Pakistan.”

India changed the status of the India-administered Kashmir on August 5, 2019, by scrapping its special constitutional status and making it a union territory.
Pakistan responded by downgrading diplomatic ties with India and halting direct trade.
India and Pakistan this year marked the first anniversary of their May cross-border conflict, which ended with a ceasefire first announced by US President Donald Trump.
India also placed the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance as ties between the two countries remain frozen.
