At least 12 people were injured in a shooting near Florida A&M University’s Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida, late on Saturday night, local police and the university said.
Police said 11 of the 12 victims sustained gunshot wounds. Six of the injured were adults and six were juveniles.
“At least three of the shooting victims have sustained serious injuries, while nine others are reported to be in stable condition,” the Tallahassee Police Department said.
The shooting took place shortly after the university’s homecoming football game and prompted shelter-in-place alerts, according to authorities and local media.
Police spokesperson Alicia Hill confirmed there were victims, while authorities said the scene had been secured by late evening, the local Tallahassee Democrat daily reported.
Florida A&M issued a safety alert around 8.40 pm local time, urging people near the stadium to shelter in place or avoid the area.
Florida State University also advised students, faculty and staff across Tallahassee to remain indoors as a precaution, saying there was no indication that members of its community were involved.
The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
