Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump to discuss bilateral ties as well as regional and global developments, Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications said.
During the call, the two leaders addressed Türkiye–US bilateral relations and broader geopolitical files.
President Erdogan stated that it is crucial to utilise diplomacy to the maximum extent possible regarding tensions between Iran and the United States, expressing Ankara's wish for talks to continue and affirming that Türkiye will continue supporting peace efforts.
Regional stability and security
Erdogan noted that through the Joint Defence Agreement signed alongside Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, Türkiye is displaying a strong stance to ensure regional stability and security.
Regarding the situation in Palestine, President Erdogan highlighted that at a time when the transition to the second phase of the Gaza peace process is being pursued, there is an increase in actions by the Israeli administration targeting Palestinians.
He stressed that Türkiye will continue to provide full support for lasting peace in the region and for steps aimed at the reconstruction of Gaza.
