Ukraine's ambassador to Ankara has been summoned to the Turkish foreign ministry following attacks on two Turkish-operated vessels in the Black Sea, foreign ministry sources said.
The Turkish-operated vessel "Lider Bordo Mavi" was struck off the Russian port city of Tuapse in the Black Sea on August 26.
"Lider Kocatepe", which was dispatched the following day to tow the vessel, was also targeted, according to the sources.
Following the incidents, Ukraine's ambassador to Ankara was summoned to the ministry on Saturday, where Türkiye conveyed its reaction to the attacks.
During the meeting, Turkish officials stressed the need to ensure the safety of life, property, navigation and the environment in the Black Sea, and issued the necessary warnings, the sources said.
On August 4, Türkiye warned that the Russia-Ukraine war is spilling further into the Black Sea after two Turkish-owned civilian vessels were struck by unmanned aerial vehicles, injuring several crew members, including Turkish nationals.
Türkiye has time and again appealed to all parties involved in the conflict to take immediate steps to safeguard commercial navigation in the strategically important waterway.
