Seven people have been killed and eight others wounded in US missile strikes in Iran’s southern Khuzestan province, according to Iranian reports.

Khuzestan Deputy Governor Valiollah Hayati told Iran’s official IRNA news agency that the casualties were caused by missile strikes on three locations in the province.

Hayati said the strikes targeted areas around the cities of Ahvaz and Aghajari.

The US military’s Central Command on Tuesday said it had launched attacks against targets belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Following the US announcement, Iranian media reported hearing explosions on Qeshm Island and in Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar and Konarak.
