Muslim travellers boost Turkey's halal-friendly tourism sector

Tourists visiting Turkey from Gulf Cooperation Council countries, a major source of halal-friendly travellers have risen 26 percent so far this year.

With the Islamic world currently observing the holy month of Ramadan, tourism to Japan is being heavily promoted in mainly-Muslim Southeast Asia, where visa requirements were relaxed in 2013 for Malaysia and Thailand. AFP

Bars without alcohol, segregated swimming pools and designated prayer areas ... these are just some of the facilities attracting an increasing number of Muslim travellers to halal-friendly hotels in Turkey.
