Women guards protect families from PKK in a rural village of Turkey
Amid constant threats from the PKK, the people of Yaylabasi village are trying to live normal lives with the never-ending hope that one day their weapons will be replaced by prosperity.

Elvan is a mother of 4, who has lived all her life in the rural Kurdish village of Yaylabasi.
A rural village in southeastern Turkey has endured years of violent clashes with the PKK, which Turkey, the US and EU designate as terror organisation.
Local Kurds have played a crucial role against PKK for more than two decades. Some of them are women, who raise families while protecting their communities.
