Israeli forces have launched fresh incursions into Syria's southern provinces of Quneitra and Daraa, detaining a civilian during a raid in the latest reported violation of the country's sovereignty.
The Syrian state news agency SANA said Israeli military vehicles entered the village of Western Samdaniyah in northern Quneitra on Sunday, where soldiers raided a home, detained a civilian and later withdrew from the area.
In neighbouring Daraa province, Israeli forces advanced before dawn toward the villages of Maariyah and Al-Ardah in the Yarmouk Basin area, according to the state-run Alikhbariah TV.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the reported incursions or the detention.
Southern Syria has witnessed recurring Israeli incursions and attacks in recent months, including raids, house searches, arrests and the establishment of military checkpoints.
The activity has intensified since the fall of Bashar al Assad's regime in December 2024, after Israel declared the 1974 disengagement agreement void and seized control of the buffer zone separating the occupied Golan Heights from Syria.
The latest incursions come amid continued tensions along the frontier, with Damascus repeatedly condemning Israeli incursions on Syrian territory as violations of its sovereignty.
