Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi discussed bilateral relations and regional and global issues during a phone call on Wednesday.
Erdogan said Türkiye would continue efforts to develop ties with Japan in all areas, particularly defence, investment and trade, according to a statement by Türkiye's Communications Directorate.
He said negotiations were the only way to resolve the conflict between Iran and the US, adding that Türkiye supports diplomatic efforts towards lasting peace and stability.
Erdogan also renewed his condolences to Takaichi over the deaths caused by the earthquake that struck Japan's Kumamoto province last month.
