Türkiye will continue working to deepen cooperation with Turkic states across all fields, drawing on longstanding fraternal ties, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Thursday ahead of a summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara.

Fidan made the remarks on US social media platform X following a meeting of OTS foreign ministers held ahead of the leaders’ gathering, which is being hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“I hope the summit we will hold tomorrow under the hosting of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will bring blessings to the Turkic world,” Fidan said.

He added that consultations rooted in traditions inherited from previous generations would strengthen solidarity and help member states achieve shared objectives.

Ankara summit to focus on unity and cooperation

The summit, scheduled for Thursday and Friday in Ankara, is being held under the theme “Turkic Century: Unity in Language, Thought and Deed.”

According to the organisation, the gathering will bring together the leaders of member states, senior representatives from observer countries and the OTS secretary general to discuss the current state and future prospects of cooperation, among other issues.

The meeting is expected to provide an opportunity to review existing partnerships and explore ways to expand collaboration across the Turkic world.
