Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius on Monday discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues in a phone call, Türkiye’s Communications Directorate said.

During the call, Erdogan wished Sinkevicius success in his new post, which the premier took up last month, and expressed his belief that relations between the two countries would continue to grow stronger.

President Erdogan underlined the importance of boosting Türkiye’s contacts with Lithuania in all areas in the days ahead, especially in the defence industry.

He noted that Ankara continues to work towards ensuring that the Russia-Ukraine war ends with a lasting peace.

The Turkish president also wished Lithuania success in its upcoming presidency of the Council of the EU, starting next January.
