Russia and Ukraine exchanged overnight drone strikes on Friday, with Ukrainian officials reporting 12 people injured across several regions and Russian authorities reporting damage from falling drone debris.
In Kiev, a Russian drone attack injured five people, including three children, according to Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kiev City Military Administration. One private house was destroyed and another was damaged, he said.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russian forces launched 93 drones overnight and that air defences destroyed or jammed 69 drones, along with three Banderol and Dan-T drone missiles.
Strikes reported across Ukraine
Three people were injured in the Kharkiv region during a series of Russian strikes, according to the regional prosecutor’s office. Residential properties, outbuildings and a vehicle were damaged.
In Zaporizhzhia, a Russian strike hit a shopping centre, injuring one person and triggering a fire, Ukraine’s interior ministry said. Rescuers later extinguished the blaze.
Three more people were injured in the Odessa region during what Gov. Oleh Kiper described as a “massive attack” on civilian infrastructure. Residential areas, an enterprise, storage tanks and warehouses were damaged.
The latest attacks followed a broader Russian strike campaign that Ukrainian officials said killed and wounded civilians across the country on Thursday.
Moscow reports hundreds of Ukrainian drones
In Russia, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said more than 350 Ukrainian drones had headed towards the Moscow region, with most destroyed before reaching the capital and 64 intercepted as they approached Moscow.
Falling drone debris in the Rostov region damaged apartment buildings and private cars, regional Gov. Yury Slyusar said.
Russia’s defence ministry said its forces intercepted and destroyed 629 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over Russian territory, the Azov and Black Sea regions, and Ukraine’s Russian-occupied Crimea.
Claims from both sides could not be independently verified because of the ongoing war.
