Israeli forces carried out a large-scale raid on the Qalandiya refugee camp and the nearby town of Kafr Aqab, north of occupied East Jerusalem, early on Wednesday, imposing a curfew and preventing dawn prayers at mosques, according to the Jerusalem Governorate.
In a series of statements, the governorate said Israeli troops deployed heavily throughout the area, enforcing strict movement restrictions in Kafr Aqab and launching what it described as a broad military aggression in Qalandiya.
Arrests and restrictions
The governorate said Israeli forces prevented dawn prayers at all mosques in the Qalandiya refugee camp and arrested the father of Laith al-Shawani, who was previously killed.
An Anadolu correspondent also reported that an Israeli military vehicle ran over a young Palestinian near the camp. His condition was not immediately known.
Israeli forces have conducted near-daily raids across the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, killing more than 1,182 Palestinians, injuring around 13,000 injured and arresting nearly 24,000 since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023, according to Palestinian officials.
Palestinian authorities call for international action against Israel's expansion of illegal settlements, home demolitions and restrictions on access to farmland, saying these measures undermine prospects for a future Palestinian state.
