Palestinian resistance group Hamas has rejected Israeli military claims that Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza was being used for military purposes, describing the allegations as "false and baseless" following a fatal strike near the medical facility.
The Israeli military claimed that two Palestinians emerged from Kamal Adwan Hospital and that one planted an explosive device allegedly retrieved from inside the complex before both were targeted and killed in an air strike.
The military identified one of the dead as Mohammed Tamous, alleging he was affiliated with Hamas's armed wing whilst concurrently serving with the Palestinian Civil Defence.
However, the Israeli army produced no evidence to substantiate its assertions that explosive devices had been stored within or moved from the hospital, or that the healthcare complex was being used for armed operations.
Allegations as pretexts
Hamas stated that Israel's recurring claims regarding healthcare facilities—including accusations that armed fighters operated from Kamal Adwan Hospital—are entirely fabricated.
The movement said the narrative mirrors earlier Israeli claims regarding hospital command centres that proved unfounded, accusing Israeli forces of manufacturing pretexts to justify attacks on hospitals, emergency personnel, and civilian infrastructure throughout the enclave.
Earlier on Wednesday, a Palestinian Civil Defence medic died from critical injuries sustained during an Israeli air strike whilst attempting to evacuate wounded individuals near Kamal Adwan Hospital, a medical source confirmed.
The source explained that Israeli fighter jets struck the site a second time as emergency personnel rushed to the scene.
Since October 2023, Israel's genocidal war across Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and wounded over 175,000 others, whilst destroying roughly 90 percent of the enclave's civilian infrastructure.
