A 14-year-old child and a man were killed when a drone crashed into a house in Russia’s Lipetsk region, authorities said on Wednesday.
Regional Governor Igor Artamonov said the drone crashed into the house and caused a fire, killing the man and child.
“Unfortunately, two people died: a man and a 14-year-old child,” Artamonov said on Telegram.
Ukrainian drones also struck a logistics centre belonging to Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries in the Tambov region, triggering a major fire.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defence systems “intercepted and destroyed” 426 Ukrainian drones overnight.
The fire broke out at the Wildberries logistics centre in Kotovsk, about 500 kilometres southeast of Moscow, overnight on Tuesday and Wednesday, Tambov Governor Yevgeny Pervychov said on Telegram.
Pervychov said the fire covered an area of more than 100,000 square metres.
Videos posted on social media showed flames and large plumes of smoke rising from the facility.
Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, is regularly targeted by Kiev, which alleges that the company supplies components to the Russian military.
Ukrainian forces have also targeted Wildberries’ competitor Ozon in recent attacks.
The logistics centres and warehouses of the two companies, which dominate Russia’s e-commerce market, are less protected than military targets, according to Russian media reports.
Ukraine’s drone attacks have caused billions of dollars in damage, with several logistics centres destroyed by fires.
The latest attacks come as strikes by Ukraine and Russia have intensified in recent months, causing a growing number of civilian casualties.
