Türkiye’s Chief of General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu has attended a meeting in Riyadh under the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement between Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Bayraktaroglu joined Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Saudi Chief of General Staff General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili at the meeting in the Saudi capital.
The three countries signed the agreement at a trilateral summit in Mecca on August 7, pledging to strengthen collective security, deepen defence cooperation and promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.
Under the pact, an armed attack against any one of the three countries is considered an attack on all.
The three sides have since moved to institutionalise the agreement, including plans to establish a secretariat in Saudi Arabia and expand joint military and defence industry cooperation.
