At least two people were killed in the Ukrainian capital Kiev after a massive, coordinated overnight barrage of Russian drones and cruise and ballistic missiles targeted cities and critical infrastructure across the country, officials said Tuesday.
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said 10 others were wounded in the attacks, with five of them hospitalised, including two in critical condition.
The Ukrainian Air Force issued urgent alerts throughout the night as waves of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and high-speed ballistic missiles targeted the city.

Authorities urged residents to remain in shelters as air defences responded to the attacks.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered a pause in attacks after US President Donald Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited the Russian and Ukrainian capitals at the weekend.
The fresh explosions triggered fires and car alarms in the city, and Kiev's city military administration said at least two people were killed and seven wounded.
Fires and rescues reported across Kiev
The strikes sparked fires in several districts of the capital, including at an educational institution in Holosiivskyi district and in non-residential areas of Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts.
The State Emergency Service said rescuers also evacuated 13 people from locations across Kiev.
In Holosiivskyi district, a blast wave hit the 23rd floor of a 26-story non-residential building.
Emergency crews rescued two people trapped inside a 16-story apartment building and another person near a burning garage.
In Solomianskyi district, rescuers helped 10 people who became trapped inside a five-story residential building. Firefighters also battled blazes at warehouses, private garages and vehicles in several districts.
Strikes spread across Ukraine
The attacks were not limited to Kiev. Russian forces also targeted areas in Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Zaporizhia, Odessa, Kharkiv and Donetsk, according to Ukrainian officials.
In the wider Kiev region, drone strikes hit Boryspil and Fastiv districts. Fires broke out at industrial facilities in Boryspil, where seven trucks were destroyed.
A logistics complex was also struck twice before emergency crews extinguished the resulting fires.
Russian tactical aircraft also reportedly launched KAB guided bombs against targets in eastern Ukraine, including frontline positions and civilian structures.
The latest barrage came after fighting resumed following a three-day temporary ceasefire observed during a recent visit to the region by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
