Turkish Airlines has brought its World Golf Cup to the Washington area, with local business leaders and other professionals competing at Potomac Shores Golf Club.
The Washington event was the 77th stop in this year’s 139-tournament series.
Launched in 2013, the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup now brings together more than 10,000 players across over 130 tournaments in 84 countries.
Sungwon Kim emerged as the Washington champion with a net score of 62, securing a place in the Grand Finals in Türkiye later this year.
Elliott Pyon finished second, while Ricardo Agudelo took third place.
Agudelo also won the men’s Closest to the Pin competition, while Bergen Houston took the women’s title. Anh Tran won the Gross award with a score of 70.
Destination for international golf
Turkish Airlines General Manager in Washington, Ismail Ozturk said, “We thank all of our guests who made the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup here in Washington a huge success. Once again, it was a thrilling tournament in the TAWGC series, congratulations to our winner, Sungwon Kim. We wish him the best of luck in Türkiye.”
Winners from the tournaments around the world will compete in the Grand Finals at Gloria Golf Club and stay at Gloria Serenity Resort on Türkiye’s Mediterranean coast. Finalists will travel to Türkiye on Turkish Airlines.
Turkish Airlines has staged a series of international golf events over the past decade, including the Turkish Airlines Open and the World Golf Cup, as part of efforts to promote Antalya as a destination for international golf.
